WEBDIST(1) WEBDIST(1)
webdist - Web Software Distribution Tool
webdist distdir
Given an Inst software distribution directory, webdist automatically
generates the HTML for a Web Software Distribution page. With a Web
Software Distribution page, a user can choose and install the Inst
products in a distribution directory using a Web interface. An Inst
software distribution directory contains products that can be installed
using the SoftwareManager(1M) or Inst(1M) installation programs.
The distdir argument is used to specify the pathname of the software
distribution directory that contains Inst products. The HTML generated
by webdist is printed to standard output.
This utility must be invoked on the same host as the Inst software
distribution directory.
The output after the successful execution of this utility is the HTML
which defines a form interface for selecting software products for
installation. This form will contain a list of toggle buttons
corresponding to the software products in the distribution directory and
have titles displaying their descriptive name. For products with blank
descriptive names, the short product name is displayed.
Following the list of installable products, are two radio buttons that
enable the user to choose between starting the installation immediately
or allowing the user to view the selections before starting.
At the bottom of the form are two buttons, a submit button labeled
Install Software starts the software installation process, and a reset
button labeled Clear Selections clears the selected products in the list.
Pressing the Install Software button invokes SoftwareManager(1M).
