NAME    [Toc]    [Back]

     topcat - HP98544 ``Topcat'', HP98550 ``Catseye'' and A1416A
``Kathmandu''
     frame buffers

DESCRIPTION    [Toc]    [Back]

The HP98544, HP98545 and HP98547 ``Topcat'', as well as the
HP98548,
     HP98549 and HP98550 ``Catseye'' and the A1416A ``Kathmandu''
are accelerated
frame buffers, with the following resolution and color
depth:
           98544 1024x768 monochrome ``Topcat''
           98545 1024x768 4-bit color ``Topcat''
           98547 1024x768 6-bit color ``Topcat''
           98548 1024x768 6-bit color ``Catseye''
           98549 1280x1024 monochrome ``Catseye''
           98550 1280x1024 8-bit color ``Catseye''
           A1416A 1280x1024 8-bit color ``Kathmandu''

The topcat driver provides a frame buffer abstraction to the
grf(4) driver,
and the associated ite(4) console framework.

The Topcat, Catseye and Kathmandu display cards are not user
configurable.
If one is present on a system, it will always have
a frame
buffer address of 0x200000 and a control register address of
0x560000.
These are the HP series 300 ITE (Internal Terminal Emulator)
defaults.
The device can also be used as a graphics output device.
