SETDEVPERMS(1M) Printing Tools SETDEVPERMS(1M)

NAME    [Toc]    [Back]

setdevperms - Update printing device entries in /etc/ioperms

SYNOPSIS    [Toc]    [Back]

     setdevperms [-D] [-a <line	to add>] [-d <line to delete>]

DESCRIPTION    [Toc]    [Back]

setdevperms adds or removes entries from the /etc/ioperms file. If the
line exists in the	file then it is	not added. If the line	to delete
exists more then once in the file then all	occurrences are	deleted. When
deleting a	line leading and trailing white	space is NOT ignored. Any
line to add or delete must	start with "/dev" or "#". There are no	other
syntax checks performed on	lines added or removed. Multiple lines	can be
added and removed at the same time	by specifying multiple instances of -a
     or	-d.

-D	can be used to turn on debugging.

If	/etc/ioperms does not exist then it is created when a new line is
     added.

You must be root to run setdevperms.

     Example:

     /usr/lib/print/setdevperms	-a "/dev/plp 0644 lp sys"

FILES    [Toc]    [Back]
