NAME    [Toc]    [Back]

khostname - Displays the fully qualified domain name
required for building principal names and configuration
       files

SYNOPSIS    [Toc]    [Back]

       /krb5/bin/khostname [hostname]

OPERAND    [Toc]    [Back]

Displays the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the
specified system hostname. Any aliases are resolved to the
       host name.

DESCRIPTION    [Toc]    [Back]

The khostname command returns the fully qualified domain
name required for building principal names and configuration
files. The names returned by khostname are used in
       the krb.conf and krb.realms files.

Host names are a critical element in a Kerberos Single
Sign-On (SSO) environment. Host names are used to build
principal names. Principal names must match exactly across
the network for SSO to work correctly.
