    file1 is copied (linked, moved) to target. Under no circumstance can file1 and target be the same (take care when using sh(1) metacharacters). If target is a directory, then one or more files are copied (linked, moved) to that directory. If target is an existing file, its contents are destroyed, except in the ln and ln -s case where the command will fail and ln will write a diagnostic message to standard error (use the -i or -f option to override this behavior).     The -i, -o, and -p options select the action to be performed. The following list describes each of the actions (which are mutually exclusive). cpio -i (copy in) extracts files from the standard input, which is assumed to be the product of a previous cpio -o.     cpp is a K&R C language preprocessor designed for standalone use and to be invoked as the first pass of all FORTRAN compilations and any K&R mode C compilation with the -mp option. Thus, cpp's output is designed to be in a form acceptable as input to the next pass of the C compiler.     cron executes commands at specified dates and times. Regularly scheduled commands can be specified according to instructions found in crontab files in the directory /var/spool/cron/crontabs.     crontab copies the specified file, or standard input if no file is specified, into a directory that holds all users' crontabs.     crypt reads from the standard input and writes on the standard output. The password is a key that selects a particular transformation. If no argument is given, crypt demands a key from the terminal and turns off printing while the key is being typed in. A tags file gives the locations of specified objects (in this case functions and typedefs) in a group of files.
