 hyphen(1)                                                         hyphen(1)

 NAME    [Toc]    [Back]
      hyphen - find hyphenated words

 SYNOPSIS    [Toc]    [Back]
      hyphen [files]

 DESCRIPTION    [Toc]    [Back]
      hyphen finds all the hyphenated words ending lines in files and prints
      them on the standard output. If no arguments are given, the standard
      input is used; thus, hyphen can be used as a filter.

 EXAMPLES    [Toc]    [Back]
      Prepare an nroff hyphenation proofreading file for textfile.

           mm textfile | hyphen

 WARNINGS    [Toc]    [Back]
      hyphen cannot cope with hyphenated italics (i.e., underlined) words;
      it often misses them completely or mangles them.

      hyphen occasionally gets confused, but with no ill effects other than
      spurious extra output.

 SEE ALSO    [Toc]    [Back]
