ATINFO(1) K-Talk by Xinet (10/14/99 10.1) ATINFO(1)
NAME [Toc] [Back]
atinfo - print the AppleTalk information for each interface
SYNOPSIS [Toc] [Back]
atinfo [-x]
DESCRIPTION [Toc] [Back]
The atinfo command prints netrange, net, node, phase, and
zone information for each Ethernet interface. If the
interface has not been configured with atconfig, the Zone
field will read ``Interface not configured.'' Despite the
fact that Phase I AppleTalk is no longer supported, atinfo
may still print phase information as ``1 or 2'' until the
interface is configured.
If the interface is configured, atinfo attempts to contact
the nbpd(1m) to get a list of zones for the interface. If
the daemon does not respond, an error message will be
printed. If it does respond, a list of the zones
associated with the interface will be displayed, with the
default zone first.
The -x option specifies that the display of numbers should
be in hexadecimal, rather than decimal.
By running atinfo before configuring an interface, you can
find out whether other routers are present on a network.
Since the net range is taken from packets sent by other
routers whenever possible, atinfo will show a nonzero
netrange before atconfig(1m) has been run, if other routers
exist on the network(or after atconfig(1m) has been run with
the -clear flag which clears all old assignments). When no
other routers are present, the netrange will remain zero.
