 sig_named(1M) sig_named(1M)

 NAME    [Toc]    [Back]
sig_named - send signals to the domain name server

 SYNOPSIS    [Toc]    [Back]
      /usr/bin/sig_named [kill | restart]

 DESCRIPTION    [Toc]    [Back]
sig_named sends the appropriate signal to the domain name server
/usr/sbin/named. The process ID is obtained from /var/run/named.pid
or from ps(1) if /var/run/named.pid does not exist.

    Options    [Toc]    [Back]
sig_named recognizes the following command-line arguments:

kill Kill the name server process.

restart Signal the name server to reload its database.

    Previous Functionality    [Toc]    [Back]
sig_named shipped with earlier version of BIND was used to dump the
database, to set debug levels and to obtain named statistics. The rndc
utility can be used instead. See rndc(1) for more details on its
      usage and options.

 AUTHOR    [Toc]    [Back]
      sig_named was developed by HP.
